PHOENIX - A male nurse from Surprise arrested for trying to meet an underage girl for sex has been sentenced to lifetime probation and one year in jail.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Robert Gottsfield handed down the sentence Friday against 39-year-old Richard Sangalang. The superior court said the sentence was based on Sangalang pleading guilty to one count of luring of a minor for sex.
Court documents show Sangalang chatted with Phoenix police undercover officers over the Internet on three different occasions in February.
Police say he was arrested Feb. 28 and booked into jail on three counts of soliciting sex with a minor.
A spokesman for Banner Health says Sangalang worked as a licensed nurse practitioner with adults for five years at Banner Estrella Medical Center in west Phoenix.
