PHOENIX - Law enforcement across Arizona continues to increase patrols during Labor Day weekend.

While numbers are still coming in, authorities tell us it’s been a busy weekend with a lot of DUI arrests.

There are 24 different red flags for police to spot possibly impaired drivers.

They include problems with maintaining the proper lane, speeding and braking problems, and reckless driving.

“The penalties for DUI are some of the toughest in the nation. After paying the penalty, the fines, and the jail time, you’d think people would learn not to drink and drive,” said Sgt. Mark Smith with Phoenix Police.

So far across the state, officers have reported more than a thousand DUI cases, and 123 of them were repeat offenders.
