PHOENIX - Police are looking for a man who was mistakenly released from a Phoenix jail.
Maricopa County Sheriff's detectives say 33-year-old Rocky Marquez knowingly took the identity of another inmate Monday in order to flee the Lower Buckeye Jail.
"This was a very thought out process," said Sgt. Brandon Jones. "He had to know the other person's information to clear our release process."
Tuesday night sheriff's officials identified that accomplice as 36-year-old Mikel Galaviz.
Galaviz is still in custody and will be charged with conspiracy for assisting in the escape.
Marquez is facing charges of perjury, forgery, witness tampering, DUI, misconduct involving weapons and leaving the scene of an accident.
Authorities say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
"That's our belief," Jones said. "Because of the steps this person took to get out of custody, it's our belief he will take every step possible to not get back into custody."
Anyone who comes into contact with Marquez should call 911.
A reward of up to $500 is being offered for information leading to Marquez's arrest.
