PHOENIX - A Valley woman who survived four gunshot wounds is now fighting to survive breast cancer.

Cindy McGuire was shot during a home invasion in September 2010. Her boyfriend was killed during the incident.

Cindy was in a coma for more than a month before waking up and realizing that she lost him.

A year after the incident, Cindy was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer.

Doctors thought the lump in her breast was a fragment of the bullet that was still in her body. But test results showed that she had cancer.

The shooting incident caused her to not be able to work, which is making it hard for her to pay the medical bills. Now the Fraternal Order of Eagles is trying to raise money to help Cindy.

“I’m just thankful for all my friends that are trying to help. If it weren’t for them, I don’t know where I’d me,” McGuire said.

A fund has been set up on Cindy's behalf. You can donate at any Wells Fargo bank, to the Cindy McGuire Medical Fund.
