PHOENIX - Vaccinations required for children to attend school can get costly for families, ranging anywhere from $10 to $40 per shot, often leaving families with no way to pay for them.

Food City and the Phoenix Fire Department are partnering up to provide free immunization clinics throughout the rest of the summer, just in time for the new school year.

The clinics, which will be staffed by bilingual paramedics, will take place at Food City locations around Phoenix.

All children between six weeks and 18 years old will have the chance to be immunized regardless of whether or not they are insured.

The clinics will be administering vaccines for Diptheria, Rubella, Pneumococcus, Purtussis, Tetanus, Polio, Measles, Mumps, Haemophilus Influenza Type B, Hepatitis A and B, Meningococcus, and Chickenpox.

No appointments are necessary to attend these clinics, but immunization records must be shown at the clinics in order for staff to vaccinate the children.

Clinics will be held on the following dates:

  • Fri. July 6, from 3 to 5 p.m.  at 9020 W. Thomas Rd., Phoenix
  • Fri. July 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. at 1940 W. Indian School Rd., Phoenix
  • Sat. July 14, from 9 to 11 a.m. at 3202 E. Greenway Rd., Phoenix
  • Fri. July 27, from 3 to 5 p.m. at 845 W. Southern Rd., Phoenix
  • Sat. Aug. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. at 7227 S. Central Ave., Phoenix
