PHOENIX - Authorities say a man is dead after he was stabbed at a home in West Phoenix.

Phoenix fire Capt. Jonathan Jacobs said an adult male and adult female were stabbed near 69th Avenue and Osborn Road.

Jacobs said the male was pronounced dead at the scene and the female has been taken to a Valley hospital trauma center.

Police say the woman, 33, was stabbed 12 times in the back, face and abdomen.

She says she awoke to being stabbed in the back and claims her 48-year-old husband stabbed himself multiple times.

Police said neighbors heard yelling and found the woman wounded outside the home.

There was a family of five inside the main home, with children between the ages of 4 and 13.

The children are staying with family friends who live in a garage on the property, according to police.
