PHOENIX - Defense attorneys for a man accused of being the so-called Baseline Killer gave their closing arguments Tuesday trying to create doubt.
Defense attorney Randall Craig focus much of his closing arguments on the fact detectives never found the murder weapon used to kill nine people in a string of crimes dating back to 2005.
“No gun has ever been found and the reason the gun has never been found is because the right suspects haven’t been found,” Craig told the jury Tuesday.

Prosecutors delivered their closing remarks Monday in the four-month trial of 47-year-old Mark Goudeau.
Maricopa County Prosecutor Patricia Stephens laid out the evidence against Goudeau focusing on the DNA linking him to some of the crimes.
“He is a ravenous, but careful, cunning wolf," said Stephens on Monday. "He is known by his deeds. His sheep's clothing worn to enable him to have access to his victims."
Jury instructions will be given Wednesday at 10am and then deliberations will begin.
The former construction worker has pleaded not guilty to nine killings in the Phoenix area and dozens of other crimes in 2005 and 2006.
If jurors find Goudeau guilty of any one of the nine murders, he could face the death penalty.
While the defense said there were multiple descriptions of the suspect and a lack of a murder weapon, prosecutors continued to focus on DNA evidence that they say links Goudeau to crime scenes, including victims' blood and a piece of jewelry being found in his house.
Deliberations could take some time because the jury must go through each of the 72 charges against Goudeau.
