PHOENIX - A Surprise nurse accused of luring someone he thought was an underaged girl for sex changed his plea in the case from not guilty to guilty Wednesday.
Richard Sangalang, 39, pleaded guilty to one count of luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
He was originally charged with three counts of luring a minor for sexual exploitation.
In February, court documents revealed Sangalang chatted online and sent photographs of his face and vehicle to undercover Phoenix police officers posing as underaged girls on three separate occasions.
According to court paperwork, Sangalang also sent messages and arranged to meet with the “child”, indicating he wanted to have different types of sexual contact with her.
Sangalang once worked as a licensed nurse practitioner with adults for five years at Banner Estrella Medical Center in west Phoenix.
His sentencing date is September 23 at 8 a.m.
