Arizona fugitive arrested in Canada

PHOENIX - An Arizona fugitive who's been on the run for 10 years has been arrested in Canada, authorities say.

Steven Dyer was wanted for 12 counts of sexual misconduct with a minor and as reported by "America's Most Wanted," Dyer was released on bail and failed to appear for his court proceedings. He is also wanted for one count of unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.

Dyer was convicted on all 13 counts in April, 2002 and faces a minimum term of 169 years behind bars.

According to "America's Most Wanted," Dyer was a Scottsdale resident, working as a pharmaceutical sales representative. He also reportedly volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.

Dyer allegedly molested a young boy for more than 18 months and a teenager on at least two occasions.

The Canadian Border Services Agency learned in December that Dyer had assumed the identity of a Canadian citizen and was living in Vancouver, according to Marketwire .

Officials also learned Dyer was outside the country and was able to identify him when he returned to Canada.

On Tuesday, the CBSA arrested Dyer at the Montreal Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport and he is currently being held in Montreal.

Dyer will be deported later today based on his possession of fraudulent identification documents and will be taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals Service to await extradition back to Arizona.
