PHOENIX - A man and a woman who were arrested after a 3-year-old girl died in their daycare plead not guilty in court on Friday.

Allison Clements and Ryan Reed both pled not guilty on charges of felony child abuse. They are not being charged with murder at this point.

Clements and Reed were arrested after a 3-year-old girl died at the babysitting service they were running.

Phoenix police said a call for a child not breathing came out around 7 a.m. on December 11th at a home near 45th Street and Sunland Avenue.

CPR was performed on the 3-year-old Savannah Cross, and she was transported to County Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The cause of death remains unknown, but police are treating it as a homicide investigation.
