It was a happy homecoming for Glendale resident Eric Vasquez.. He was greeted by dozens of friends and family at Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix.
Eric has spent the last nine months serving the Air Force in Afghanistan. During that time, his wife Vangelica had given birth to their third daughter.
Eric wasn’t able to physically be there for the birth; however, he was able to Skype with his family throughout the birth. Thursday was the first day that Eric was able to meet his youngest daughter Rayne.
“It’s been really crazy, it’s been so hard without him, but I’m so glad that he is back and we have a lot of catching up to do,” said Vangelica.
"It's hard leaving your family and your girls behind, but it's awesome to come back and just know you have a lot of support at home," said Eric.
Eric will only be home for a few months before he is deployed to Italy, but he says that he is going to enjoy every minute that he can with his loving family.
