PHOENIX - One man was seriously burned when a series of propane tank explosions went off inside a trailer carrying a hot air balloon in Phoenix Wednesday.

The Phoenix Fire Department said crews arrived at the scene near 19th Avenue and Rose Garden Lane around 11 a.m. to find the 18-foot aluminum trailer, which contained four propane tanks, on fire.

The propane tanks had just been filled at a gas station. All four tanks exploded after the fire started.

Phoenix Fire Department said the fire grew and reached the Suburban that was hooked to the trailer and the 2,000 gallon propane tank they had used to fill their tanks.

A 40-year-old man was transported for serious burns.

There is no word yet on what may have started the fire, but crews were able to get it under control quickly.
