PHOENIX - Two workers were injured Thursday when a scoreboard fell on them at a Valley park.
Larry Nunez with the Phoenix Fire Department said the accident happened around 4:30 p.m. at the Monterey Park near 4th Street and Thomas in Phoenix.
Authorities said the scoreboard is approximately 1,000 pounds and 25-feet wide.
The sign belongs to Action Sign & Lighting. They were installing the scoreboard when it fell, pinning one of the workers underneath. A passer-by was able to help lift the sign off the man.
Police said the worker was conscious when taken to the hospital but is in critical condition. The second worker had minor injuries and refused treatment.
