An Arizona man is behind bars after attempting to meet an underage girl for sex.
According to the Effingham County Police Department, Steven Schlesselman, 45, was arrested in Georgia for soliciting sex from what he thought was a 14-year-old-girl.
Police said the girl was actually an undercover agent for the police department who Schlesselman had been talking to for about three weeks.
Authorities said Schlesselman told the girl he wanted to travel to Georgia to have sex with her.
Schlesselman flew from Phoenix to Atlanta Sunday afternoon. Investigators believe his only purpose in Georgia was to meet the 14-year-old girl.
Schlesselman was arrested while parked at a gas station where he was supposed to meet the girl.
Authorities said Schlesselman is being charged with criminal attempt to commit child molestation and enticing a child for indecent purposes.
Police said throughout their investigation, Schlesselman expressed his desire to have sex with young children.
Schlesselman is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail which is about 26 miles northwest of Savannah.
Officials said he is set for a bond hearing December 11.
