PHOENIX - The family of a murdered Valley man said their lives are changed forever and told a judge that they experience nightmares.

Jessica Lee Gaudet wrote Maricopa County Superior Court Jude Warren Granville on July 19 about the murder of her father, Bruce Gaudet.

Phoenix police believe Michael Crane murdered Gaudet on Jan. 26 and then a Paradise Valley couple, Lawrence and Glenna Shapiro, four days later.

Several others were also arrested in connection with the homicides.

Investigators said Gaudet was shot and then his home was torched.

“I experience nightmares about my dad’s house and the pain he went through,” Jessica wrote. “I couldn’t light a barbeque this Fourth of July or experience lighting fireworks because I just see tragic images of my dad’s last moments alive. In every which way, this tortures us.”

The letter was intended to be used at the sentencing phase for Brittany Beinhauer.

Beinhauer admitted to possessing Bruce’s credit cards, while her friend, Crane, is charged with the murder.

Beinhauer will get a little more than two years in prison for the credit card theft.

Crane is due in court next month.
