PHOENIX - A 21-month-old boy has died after playing with a garden hose Friday afternoon.

Authorities said Xavier Becerra Martinez, 21 months, was playing with a hose with two other children ages five and three at a home near 71st Avenue and Lower Buckeye when the boy somehow died.

It is unclear at this time how the boy died. The 911 call initially came in as a drowning. Police said the children's uncle, age 24, was watching the kids when the accident happened.

Neighbors told ABC15 the uncle found the boy and someone performed CPR on him before fire crews arrived.

Phoenix police are assisting with the investigation.

The story is still developing. Stay tuned to ABC15 and abc15.com for the latest details.
