PHOENIX - Six people are in custody after an apparent home invasion in West Phoenix Wednesday morning.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said officers responded to a call near 89th Avenue and Thomas Road around 2:30 a.m. regarding armed subjects who had forced their way into a home.
Responding officers tried to talk to a subject sitting in a vehicle parked on the street but the driver fled and additional officers began a pursuit.
While that was taking place, the first officers saw several masked subjects running from the home.
Crump said the suspects all fled on foot into the neighborhood and four were taken into custody during a canine search.
A fifth suspect was found outside the perimeter and the sixth suspect was detained inside the vehicle when the pursuit came to an end without incident.
The homeowners were not injured, Crump said, however three of the suspects required medical attention as a result of K-9 bites.
