PHOENIX - Phoenix police say they have detained six people in a suspected forgery and identification theft case.
Police detectives said Monday that the three men and three women have not been arrested yet.
They were detained Friday for attempting to pick up stolen credit cards and fake driver's licenses that were shipped to Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport on a commercial airline.
Police say an airline employee became suspicious of the package when it arrived and opened it. Inside were three fictitious Texas driver's licenses and two credit cards that were later determined to be stolen.
The six suspects were detained when they arrived at the airport to pick up the items. Police say the suspects arrived in Phoenix from California on June 3 and used a stolen credit card and a fake Oregon driver's license to rent a vehicle.
They then allegedly drove around the Phoenix metro area and withdrew thousands of dollars from several banks via cash advances on the stolen credit cards.
