PHOENIX - Police have arrested three people in the murder of a man whose body was left in the trunk of a vehicle abandoned on a Phoenix alley last week.
Police said at a Wednesday afternoon news conference that David Estrada was lured to a Glendale city park by a female suspect where he was assaulted by two male suspects.
Police said Estrada was kidnapped, bound and taken to various locations around the city.
While still alive, Estrada was shown to other people, according to police. At some point, police say, Estrada died as a result of his injuries and the car was dumped in an alley near 43rd Avenue and Bethany Home Road.
Police say the motive was robbery.
Arrested were 21-year-old Robertson Brown, Cecelia Vega, 17 and Jose Bosquez, 17. Police say all three are part of a central Phoenix gang.
Police called it a "very brutal and disturbing homicide," and said they are recommending the two teens be charged as adults.
All three face charges of first degree murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and auto theft.
Estrada was last seen Monday, June 7 when he borrowed his father's car to go to a job interview.
The vehicle was later found abandoned in the alley and was towed to an impound lot where Estrada's body was discovered in the trunk.
