PHOENIX - Although Valley summers are getting hotter and hotter , the Phoenix Zoo said its animals are expecting a snowstorm Saturday.
Zoo officials said nearly 60 tons of snow will be at the Phoenix Zoo Saturday morning for the “Winter in July” event.
From 7 to 11 a.m., guests will be able to play in the snow and participate in other special activities.
The zoo will provide 25 tons of snow for guests to play in, with spinning snowball targets and separate areas for toddlers and older children.
Cheetahs, giraffes, orangutans, bears, elephants and wild dogs will play in the remaining 35 tons of snow.
Reba the elephant will enjoy a shower from a fire hose and the Komodo dragons will also receive hose showers.
Radio Disney will provide games, music and dancing and Fry’s V.I.P. members will have a chance to win $250 in groceries.
Admission is $18 for adults, $9 for children ages 3 to 12 and free for children 2 and under and Phoenix Zoo members. Admission costs include all activities.
