SEDONA, AZ - Yavapai County Sheriff’s officials are on the hunt for a suspect who fled the scene after a violent hit and run north of the Valley Tuesday.
Around 7:30 p.m. deputies responded to a reported hit and run accident on Red Rock Loop Road.
When they got on scene they reportedly found a severely charred sedan with four occupants.
The uninjured occupants said someone driving an SUV southbound on Red Rock Loop Road slammed into the left side of their white Chevy Malibu, causing it to burst into flames.
After the collision, the driver of the white SUV reportedly turned around and headed north on Red Rock Loop Road, leaving the scene of the accident, YCSO authorities said.
The victims told deputies that the suspect SUV had very dark window tint and they could not see if anyone else was in the car or what the driver looked like.
YCSO deputies say a “V8 Dodge Magnum” emblem was found near the scene. They believe this suggests the suspect was driving a white Dodge Durango.
Deputies say there should be substantial left-front body damage to the suspect vehicle.
If you know anything about this case you are urged to contact the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office at 928-771-3260.
