CORNVILLE, AZ - The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office in a a joint operation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement, arrested an Arizona man Friday for downloading and storing several hundred images and files of child pornography.
Authorities arrested Troy Curtis, 48, of Cornville, Friday after he admitted downloading and storing child pornography on his computer, according to YCSO.
Officials said the investigation began in 2009 when Homeland Security agents became aware of an online chat room used to distribute child pornography. Agents monitored the chat room and found Curtis after he allegedly posted 56 images of child pornography on the site.
In August 2010, authorities served a search warrant at Curtis's home and discovered several hundred pornographic images of children and 13 video files containing child pornography stored on his computer and various storage devices.
YCSO said authorities contacted Curtis Friday and he admitted to downloading the images and videos. He was arrested on suspicion of 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and is currently in custody.
