PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - Although thousands attended the 19 firefighters' memorial service in Prescott, many tuned in from remote locations.
Congregation members of the Prescott Valley United Methodist Church gathered to watch a live internet stream of the memorial service as a community.
Reverend John Mansell hoped the gathering would bring comfort to those grieving.
One congregation member, Anita Wulf, and her husband, a retired firefighter, sought just that.
Wulf knows the loss greatly affected her husband but also frequently suffers herself thinking that it could've been him.
The congregation were active participants in the memorial; they stood for the National Anthem, bowed their heads for the prayers and hummed along with the hymns.
The memorial service will re-air Saturday, July 13 at 10 a.m. on ABC15 digital channel 15.2, Cox Cable channel 95 and Century Link channel 16.
