PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ - A Prescott Valley man is accused of intentionally driving his vehicle at two men, striking one of them and fleeing the scene.

According to Prescott Valley police, the incident happened around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at Mountain Valley Park where two residents were walking.

One of the men saw the vehicle driving at them and warned the other man who was not able to move out of the way in time and was struck.

The victim was thrown from the car and sustained a head injury. He was taken to Yavapai Regional Medical Center East Campus where his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Witnesses reportedly told police the vehicle was traveling at approximately 15-20 miles per hour when the victim was struck.

Witnesses identified the driver of the vehicle as 35-year-old Jose Alvarez-Ramirez of Prescott Valley.

Police learned that Alvarez-Ramirez had been allegedly targeting one of the two men in the park, who is the current boyfriend of Alvarez-Ramirez's ex-girlfriend.

Alvarez-Ramirez reportedly had been harassing the intended victim and allegedly threatened to kill him the day before.

Police say the man who was struck by Alvarez-Ramirez is not believed to be the intended victim.
