PRESCOTT, AZ - Prescott has named Division Chief Eric Kriwer as the city's acting fire chief.
City officials announced Friday that Kriwer will serve until Prescott recruits and selects a permanent fire chief.
Departing Fire Chief Dan Fraijo's last day is Nov. 15.
Kriwer has worked for the Prescott Fire Department for seven years.
He helped provide direction and planning for the memorial and funeral services for 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots killed by the Yarnell Hill Fire on June 30.
Kriwer previously has worked in Fountain Hills, Scottsdale and other cities -- serving as a firefighter, paramedic, battalion chief, fire marshal and assistant chief.
