PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. - A 21-year-old Prescott Valley man is facing felony charges after punching an officer during an arrest for domestic violence.

Prescott Valley police spokesman Brandon Bonney said that on January 16 officers responded to the 4200 block of Preston for a domestic violence call. When they arrived, a 19-year-old female claimed she had been assaulted by 21-year-old Marcus W. Long of Prescott Valley. Long is reportedly a family member of the victim.

Witnesses say Long was involved in an argument with family members. Long reportedly punched the 19-year-old victim in the face. Another person reported that Long threw a remote control and struck her in the leg.

When they arrived, officers searched the back yard area to try and find Long. Long was found hiding in some bushes in the back yard. Police said he refused to follow officer's commands to show them his hands and tried to go inside the house.

Officers attempted to subdue him and take him into custody. During the arrest Long punched one officer in the eye. The officers were eventually able to get Long into custody.

While leaving, Long allegedly tried to go after his grandmother and had to forcefully be removed from the house. Long was reportedly still combative when he was put into a patrol vehicle.

The officer was taken to the Yavapai Regional Medical Center East Campus for a minor injury to his eye. He was treated and released for duty.

Long was arrested and booked into the Yavapai County Jail for aggravated assault on a police officer , two counts of assault per domestic violence, and two counts of disorderly conduct per domestic violence.
