PRESCOTT, AZ - Authorities are looking for a Seligman man who was reported missing after not arriving at his destination in Flagstaff last week.
Rick Gaffney, 51, was last seen on June 19 around 11 a.m. at the J&R Mini Mart Café in Seligman.
Gaffney, the owner of the café, told a co-worker that he was going to be traveling to Flagstaff to meet a friend and pick up business supplies.
The co-worker became suspicious after he called Gaffney’s friend in Flagstaff and learned that he had never gotten there. He then notified the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office.
On the morning of June 20, Gaffney's business partner in Prescott found Gaffney’s vehicle parked in a turnout on Highway 89 near Little Hell’s Canyon, just north of Paulden, Ariz.
His vehicle was locked and nothing seemed suspicious. Deputies were told that Gaffney often liked to hike the area, but it was unclear as to why he didn’t notify friends or family.
Those who tried to call Gaffney’s cell phone said the call went straight to voicemail, possibly because of the poor cell phone service in the area.
Sheriff's deputies conducted a multiple-day search of the area, but no signs of his whereabouts were found.
Gaffney is identified as being around 6 feet tall, weighing 185 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing light green khaki shorts, a grey shirt and Nike tennis shoes.
