PRESCOTT, AZ - Two residents of Tucson have been arrested after authorities say they found drugs in their car in northern Arizona.
Yavapai County Sheriff's officials say 38-year old Armando Padilla and 39-year-old Caroline Pond are being held on suspicion of transportation of dangerous drugs for sale.
They remained in custody Friday at the Camp Verde Detention Center on $150,000 bond apiece.
A sheriff's deputy stopped a car Tuesday on Interstate 17 in the Cordes Junction area for a moving violation with Padilla being the driver.
A vehicle search turned up numerous concealed packages in the trunk and authorities seized 38 pounds of cocaine and 5 pounds of methamphetamine.
Authorities say the total wholesale value of the drug load was estimated at more than $860,000 with the street value likely triple that amount.
