PAYSON, AZ - Two bears that may be linked to three attacks near Payson have been been captured and killed, according to the Arizona Game and Fish Department.

Game and Fish spokesman Jim Paxon said two separate packs of dogs on Sunday night picked up the bears' scents in the area south of the Ponderosa Campground, approximately 12 miles northeast of Payson.

Earlier Sunday, a Tempe man was airlifted to a Scottsdale hospital with lacerations and bite wounds to his head and arm and possibly his legs after being attacked at the Ponderosa Campground.

On Tuesday, the Arizona Game and Fish Department released photos of the bears after they had been killed. The photos are in the slideshow above. WARNING, THEY MAY BE TOO GRAPHIC FOR SOME VIEWERS .

On June 21, a bear entered an unfinished cabin near Tonto Village and bit a sleeping man on his leg , and on May 31, a bear entered a tent at Ponderosa Campground and clawed a woman . Neither suffered life-threatening injuries.

Paxon said they are waiting on DNA tests to confirm these are the same bears that were involved in the attacks.
