MOHAVE COUNTY, AZ - Authorities say Interstate 15 in northern Arizona has been reopened after a serious situation involving a suspected robber killing himself during a traffic stop Tuesday.

The highway was back open around 5 a.m. and no hazardous materials were found.

According to KTNV in Las Vegas, 43-year-old Troy Eugene Williams, from Arizona, robbed a bank in Mesquite, Nevada around 10:30 a.m.

KTNV said Williams, who has been living in Nevada for a while, handed a teller a note saying he had a gun and a bomb. Mesquite police say Williams got away with $2,800.

Carrick Cook with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said officers were trying to locate Williams.

Cook said around 1 p.m., DPS pulled Williams over and, as they approached, he shot and killed himself.

Officers continued to investigate and reportedly saw boxes in the car that strongly suggested there was a serious hazardous chemical inside the car.

Authorities say they found no such materials in the vehicle.

A hazmat team was flown in from Phoenix to St. George, Utah, in order to test and confirm what the substance is. Cook said it is not drug related.
