N. Arizona pursuit ends with 1 shot

CAMP VERDE, AZ - A vehicle pursuit in northern Arizona on Friday night ended with one person shot, according to authorities.

Robin Bruno with the Camp Verde Marshal's Office said in a news release that initial information received by CVMO was that officers with the Department of Public Safety and Yavapai County Sheriff's Office had been pursuing an armed and possible suicidal subject northbound on Interstate 17.

The pursuit ended in Camp Verde where the subject got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

Bruno said the subject was located by CVMO Deputy David Freeman in an empty lot where the subject displayed a weapon.

Freeman fired several rounds at the subject striking him. The subject was air-lifted to Flagstaff Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries, Bruno said.

No officers were injured.

Bruno said the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office is conducting a criminal investigation into the shooting while the Cottonwood Police Department will be conducting the administrative investigation at the request of the Marshal's Office.
