Lightning sparks fires on Tonto National Forest

TONTO NATIONAL FOREST, AZ - Lightning strikes from a late night storm caused multiple fires Wednesday night throughout the Tonto National Forest and Superstition Mountains.
The Tonto National Forest is northeast of Mesa and Apache Junction.
Crews are battling a 200-acre forest fire and six smaller ones near Phoenix that all were ignited by lightning strikes.
Authorities say the 200-acre fire is in the Superstition Wilderness area and in remote terrain that's inaccessible.
The other fires range from 12 acres to less than one acre. No structures are immediately threatened.
Authorities say the fires are on five of the six forest ranger districts in the Tonto including the Mesa Ranger District which is popular among hikers.
Crews are on scene at most of the locations.
