FOREST LAKES, AZ - A Department of Public Safety officer is recovering Wednesday night after being involved in a head-on collision in Northern Arizona.
DPS spokesman Carrick Cook said the accident happened around 3 p.m. on SR 260 in Forest Lakes, near Show Low Arizona.
Authorities said the officer was traveling westbound when a pickup truck traveling eastbound lost control and swerved into the opposite lane striking the officer head-on.
Cook said the officer suffered minor injuries to his leg, hips and back, and is expected to recover.
The pickup driver did not suffer serious injuries in the accident, and is also expected to be okay.
Forest Lakes Fire Department spokesman Dave Rodriguez said the truck was likely out of control due to icy road conditions.
