WINSLOW, AZ - The two people killed in the crash of a small plane in northern Arizona were police officers from Southern California.
Authorities say 35-year-old Brian Hayes was with the Anaheim Police Department and 32-year-old Nicole Anderson was with the Simi Valley Police Department.
The Arizona Republic says the two were boyfriend and girlfriend.
Authorities say the couple died when the Mooney M20F plane crashed at the Winslow-Lindbergh Regional Airport after taking off Sunday morning.
The plane came to rest upside down at the end of the runway, but didn't catch fire.
Anaheim police say Hayes was hired as a full-time officer in 1999. Simi Valley police say Anderson had been a full-time officer since 2003.
The crash is being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board.
