KINGMAN, AZ - A 13-year-old middle school student was treated for injuries Monday after he fell out of the back of a moving school bus in Kingman.

The boy, a student at White Cliff’s Middle School, was seen in the school bus security video opening the rear emergency exit door of the bus and stepping out while the bus was still in motion, according to Mohave County Sheriff's spokeswoman Trish Carter. The bus was traveling at about 15 miles per hour at the time.

The boy was treated for minor injuries at the Kingman Regional Medical Center Emergency room, including a possible broken elbow and a concussion.

The boy had been disruptive while riding the bus home, according to a report from the sheriff’s office. The report details how he refused to comply with the bus driver’s attempts to control him and the video recordings from the bus.

“The recordings were reviewed from start to finish and clearly the boy was out of control and unruly," said Sgt. Don Bischoff in the sheriff’s office report.

At one point in the video, the boy flipped from one seat to another on the opposite side of the bus, shattering a window with his foot in the process.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety, which is responsible for inspecting school buses for safety, checked the bus and found it in compliance with all regulations.
