LAKE HAVASU CITY, AZ - The Department of Defense announced Tuesday morning the death of a soldier from Arizona.
Staff Sgt. Carl E. Hammar, 24, of Lake Havasu City died Saturday in Khost province, Afghanistan, according to a news release.
Hammar died from injuries from enemy small arms fire in Operation Enduring Freedom.
He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 501st Infantry Regiment, 4th Airborne Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.
