FLAGSTAFF, AZ - A man was arrested for driving under the influence Saturday, after he was spotted driving the wrong way on Interstate 17.
Dwight D’Evelyn, spokesman for the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office said that a YCSO deputy was traveling along I-17, near Highway 179, when a car driving the opposite direction almost collided with him in his lane.
The deputy pulled over Edward Moreno, 65, who reportedly was driving from Scottsdale to Flagstaff, said D’Evelyn. After conducting field sobriety tests, the deputy determined Moreno was intoxicated and placed him under arrest.
Deputies found two beer bottles in the vehicle and Moreno was booked at the Camp Verde Detention Center for charges including DUI in the slightest degree, endangerment and having an open container, according to a YCSO news release.
D’Evelyn said that Moreno has since been released on a $4,000 bail.
