FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -

Police say a woman is in the hospital after she was struck by two vehicles on Route 66 in Flagstaff early Tuesday.

Flagstaff police Sgt. James Jackson said officers were called to the accident scene around 4 a.m. and learned a semi-truck driver had hit an unidentified female who was in the roadway,

The truck driver said he did not see the woman before hitting her, but after realizing he hit something, he turned around to find he had struck a person.

Officers say while the driver was stopping to call police, the female was struck by a second vehicle who did not see her lying in the roadway.

The woman was taken to Flagstaff Medical Center for treatment.
