FLAGSTAFF, AZ - A man from Arizona's Fort Apache Indian Reservation is charged with sexually assaulting a female inmate after they were placed in the same tribal jail cell in rural eastern Arizona.
Federal court documents say 21-year-old Emmanuel Burnette was jailed Saturday for assault and being under the influence of alcohol at the White Mountain Apache Indian Tribe Detention Center in Whiteriver.
An FBI agent's affidavit says jail video shows Burnette engaging in a sexual act with the 23-year-old female inmate before corrections officers entered the room and separated them.
A lawyer representing Burnette did not immediately return a call for comment.
An affidavit says the woman faced tribal charges of public intoxication.
