FLAGSTAFF, AZ - Flagstaff police say they're looking for whoever hanged a puppy from its own doghouse while the owner was away.
Police spokesman Sgt. James Jackson said the woman returned home at East Dortha Avenue after a visit to Sedona on Sunday afternoon, according to the Arizona Daily Sun.
She then found the puppy hanging from a noose in her yard.
She cut the animal down so her children wouldn't see it and called police.
Jackson told the Arizona Daily Sun whoever killed the 4-month-old dog is only guilty of a misdemeanor but police are still doing everything they can to solve the case.
They're asking anyone with information to call them.
Jackson said the woman told officers police had been at her home about two weeks earlier after someone complained about her dogs barking.
An officer could not find any record of a prior incident.
