FLAGSTAFF, AZ - A skeleton found by a rancher northeast of Flagstaff has been identified as a man who went missing in September 2011.

The remains were found over the weekend in the area of Roden Crater outside Flagstaff. Coconino County Sheriff's Office officials say they been identified as those of 40-year-old Justin Brian Hall.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports Hall was house-sitting a friend's home just northeast of Flagstaff when he went missing. His family described him as an avid outdoorsman and said he loved hiking and rock climbing.

A Coconino County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue operation turned up no evidence of Hall after he went missing. The remains were identified by the Coconino County Medical Examiner's Office but cause of death was not immediately established.
