SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The Tranquility Trail Animal Sanctuary held a BBQ and silent auction fundraiser to introduce the community to their abundance of baby bunnies.

The sanctuary recently rescued 132 rabbits from a Phoenix backyard. Three of the rabbits were pregnant.

Now the shelter has 25 new bunnies in addition to 36 of the rescued bunnies that are under 3-months old.

Tranquility Trail held the fundraiser to help gather the supplies they need to feed all the new little mouths.

Their wish list includes Alfalfa Pellets, X-Pens, combs/brushes, toys, fleece blankets for X-Pens, ceramic bowls for food and water, paper towels, Yesterday's News Unscented Litter, rechargeable shark type vacuum, handheld brooms with dustpans, willow tents, bunny beds, large plastic water pitchers.

Kelly Ames, Executive Director of Tranquility Trail Animal Sanctuary said the fundraiser was also a way to get the word out about bunnies.

“It’s just a fun way for everyone to meet the babies and then help raise awareness about the plight of the domestic rabbit,” she said.

It will be a few months before the newborn bunnies are spayed and neutered and ready for adoption, but, Tranquility Trail does have 100 rabbits that are ready to find a home. You can also foster bunnies for the sanctuary.

Another way to help the sanctuary is to sponsor a bunny. For $25, you can sponsor a bunny and get a plaque with your name above their pen. For $50, you can pay for a spay/neuter surgery for a bunny and for $100, you can sponsor a bunny mom.
