SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A Scottsdale woman accused of shooting and wounding her boyfriend after a verbal altercation has been sentenced to 30 days in jail and three years' probation.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 46-year-old Julie Kuhns was sentenced Tuesday after entering a plea agreement for attempt to commit disorderly conduct. She originally was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault and disorderly conduct.

According to court documents, Kuhns drank vodka on the morning of the shooting last October.

When her 41-year-old boyfriend arrived at her house, an argument began after he spilled coffee.

Kuhns got the gun from a kitchen drawer but told police that she thought the gun was unloaded after she removed the magazine and only pulled the trigger to scare him.

The man was shot in the upper chest but survived.
