SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A Scottsdale job agency is using technology to help land people jobs.
Despite being apprehensive, Danielle Walls is trying a new way of getting her resume out to potential employers.
Walls has been looking for a job since November. Not having an income during the holidays was tough for the mother of three, but she is open to trying new methods.
“I felt like the employer has an opportunity to decide based on age, based on race,” she said of the new video resume feature her job placement agency is using.
But since she taped her video resume, it has already provided results, she said.
The video resume landed her one interview.
“Now you know what the candidate sounds like, what he feels like, what he looks like. Talent Rooster has a motto: Be seen, be heard, be hired,” said Mike Gould, who runs Gould Staffing and started using video resumes back in September.
Gould Staffing, an 11-year-old job placement agency, is just trying to provide as many avenues for their clients and job candidates as possible.
“When I send out a video resume link to a customer, it seems like it's just curious to click on that link, click on that arrow and you just get to see and hear the candidate right away,” Gould said of the reaction he is getting from companies.
Since they started doing it, Gould said they have seen more interest from companies, who in the past wouldn't call back, but now like the new feature.
Julie Tashquint hopes her video resume shows her personality and helps land her a permanent job. She has been doing temp work on and off for two years. She is looking for a permanent customer service-data entry type job.
“The employer that is looking for maybe someone like me, likes my personality and he'll see it on the video,” Tashquint said.
