SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A three-year-old child was injured and hospitalized after his mom tried to climb over a chain link fence.
Scottsdale police were called to Scottsdale and McDowell Roads after receiving a call about a woman running in the road while carrying a small child, police said.
Police said the 25-year-old mom was under the influence of methamphetamine, was only wearing a T-shirt and attempted to climb over a nearby fence while holding her child.
When police arrived, they noticed that the mom and child had blood on their clothing, police aid.
Police said that the child received a “severe” cut to his leg most likely while the mom was climbing over the fence. The child was transported to Maricopa Medical Center and will be released to Child Protective Services.
Police said that child's shirt was still attached to the top of the fence .
It was unclear as to why the mom was climbing over the fence. Police said the mom was talking “incoherently” about a fight that she was involved in that took place in the west valley, according to police.
Police said possible charges are pending the moms release from the hospital and as detectives continue to investigate.
