SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Police believe alcohol and speed may have played a factor in a hit and run collision that injured two motorcyclists Sunday night.
Scottsdale police Officer Dave Pubins said the accident happened near Scottsdale Road and Earll Drive around 8 p.m.
Pubins said the male driver of the motorcycle and his female passenger were headed southbound on Scottsdale Road when they hit a dark colored sedan which was pulling out of a private drive.
Police said the sedan left the scene after the collision.
A witness to the accident told police that the car was a grey Chevy Camaro with damage to the rear bumper and a broken rear window. The vehicle has an Arizona plate AWS7877.
The driver of the Camaro is described as a white male in his 20's, 6 feet tall, 200 lbs. with brown hair and a beard. He also has tattoos on his hands and wrists. There was a female passenger in the vehicle that is described as white, in her 20's with short dark hair and blonde hi-lights. Both were dressed in black clothing.
Authorities said neither motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
Both were transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn with life-threatening injuries.
As of Monday morning, the condition of the motorcycle driver was not considered life-threatening, however his passenger's condition remains the same.
Scottsdale Road southbound at Earll was closed for hours during the investigation.
Police are not identifying the victims at this time.
