SCOTTSDALE, AZ - A 30-year-old Scottsdale man was arrested Sunday night after he allegedly fought with officers when he was stopped for speeding.
According to police, a Scottsdale police officer stopped Dirk Simmons around 9:30 p.m. for traveling at a high rate of speed in a 35 mph zone near 100th Street and Cactus Road.
The vehicle pulled over near 108th Street and the suspect ran on foot from the office when he got out of his car.
Police say Simmons was caught in the front yard of a nearby home where he began to fight with the initial officer and two other responding officers.
Simmons was taken into custody and taken to a Scottsdale hospital for observation.
After he was released from the hospital, Simmons was booked on charges of excessive speed, aggravated DUI, failure to obey, resisting arrest and two counts of aggravated assault.
