SCOTTSDALE, AZ - The discovery of two bodies outside a Scottsdale home Thursday morning appears to be the result of a murder-suicide, according to police.

Scottsdale police said an intial investigation into the shooting deaths has led investigators to believe 60-year-old Steven Lester shot 24-year-old Vanessa Klein multiple times then shot himself.

Officers responded to the home near Hayden and Mountain View roads Thursday after a woman discovered the bodies on the patio of the residence.

According to police, it appears Lester called Klein, a lontime girlfriend, to come to his house Wednesday night.

When Klein arrived, Lester reportedly confronted her at the door of his residence and shot her several times before turning the gun on himself.

Police said neighbors recalled hearing shots fired that night, and a check of 911 records indicated that a call reporting shots fired was received at 8:35 p.m. Wednesday. Officers reportedly responded to the neighborhood but were unable to locate the source of the shots.

The medical examiners office will rule on the exact cause and manner of death, but police said at this point in the investigation they do not believe there are any outstanding suspects.
