SCOTTSDALE, AZ - As the sun rose and the gas tanks filled up at Scottsdale Municipal airport. Jessica Lucero was awaiting her journey back home to New York.

Six months ago, Jessica came to the Valley to give her quintuplets the best chance of survival.

Unfortunately, one of her children, Leila Maxine died during delivery. Sadly, this is not the first time this has happened, as Jessica had lost twins in a previous pregnancy.

After six weeks of care, the other four babies are healthy and were transported to New York with special equipment.

Angel MedFlight helped ease the Lucero family’s worries by taking care of all the travel details from Scottsdale to Watertown, New York. There, the family will be reunited with their father, Sgt. Esdras Lucero who was wounded overseas.

The special flights were crucial to the family due to the fact that the babies do not have normal immune systems.

“I am grateful. I am so thankful,” Jessica said.

Each of the babies has their own personal medical assistant in these specialized aircrafts.

Jessica also carried the remains of Leila Maxine in an urn which she brought with her on the plane ride home.

“I have Leila with me. So I’m taking all of my kids home, they’re all coming home,” Jessica said.
