SCOTTSDALE, AZ - Scottsdale Police have arrested a man on multiple counts of endangerment and theft after they say he stole natural gas from one of his neighbors.
Police say Donald Tomasian, 43, had his gas shut off for failure to pay so he took parts of a gas meter from a vacant home nearby and spliced into his neighbor's gas meter.
On Saturday, the neighbor found a misplaced hose leading from his gas utility pipe to Tomasian's garage.
Southwest Gas was called and found evidence of a gas leak that could potentially explode.
Scottsdale fire and police began evacuating Tomasian's home along with six other homes.
Once the situation was safe, people were allowed to return to their homes.
Tomasian was booked on multiple counts of endangerment and theft as well as charges associated with utility services.
